Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing mechanical disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Chiropractors aim to restore proper movement and function to the body, helping to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being.

In the UK, chiropractors are regulated healthcare professionals who undergo extensive training, typically completing a 4-5 year degree program. Their practice is centred around spinal adjustments or manipulations, which involve using the hands to apply controlled, specific force to a joint, typically the spine. This is believed to help restore normal function, relieve pain, and reduce muscle tension.

Chiropractors may also use other therapeutic techniques, such as soft tissue therapy, exercise rehabilitation, lifestyle advice, and postural correction, to support the body’s natural ability to heal. Chiropractic care is commonly used to treat conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint issues, as well as providing preventative care and improving overall function.

Chiropractic care is rooted in a holistic approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of the nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and overall health. Chiropractors in the UK are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), ensuring high standards of care, professionalism, and safety.
